Beginning in 2019, I have worked with Shawn Larson through his role as Editor of the Cass County Citizens Journal-Sun and my roles as former Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce President and current Executive Director of the Atlanta City Development Corporation.
Over these years, Shawn has acted as a community partner in many ways. Whether it be regular coverage of local happenings around town or providing a space for the Chamber of Commerce to speak to the community via a “Chamber Chat” column, Shawn was involved and supportive.
When it comes to the overall health of the communities in his readership area, Shawn cared deeply and was a proactive citizen. He regularly attended and participated in meetings of the Cass County Economic Development Consortium as well as met with community leaders on important issues.
In my experience working with Shawn, his journalism style has been fair and responsible. He has shown creativity and strategic gumption for his organization. Under Shawn’s leadership, the Cass County Citizens Journal-Sun has become known to be a positive voice in our county and a reliable and enjoyable source of local news.
